With 35 elementary schools named California Distinguished schools, eight of which distinguished as national Blue Ribbon Schools, Santa Clarita’s commitment to education is evident in strong academic performance, passionate teachers, and community dedication to education. Our kindergarten through sixth grade schools are included in these districts: Newhall School District, Saugus School District, and Sulphur Springs School District.

Within the William S. Hart Union High School District, encompassing grades 7-12, six of our high schools were named 2022 California Distinguished Schools in recognition of their exceptional record to provide for all students and their commitment to data-driven efforts that prepare students for college and career.



College of the Canyons

Our local community college, College of the Canyons, has distinguished itself as a premier community college in California.  COC was named a Champion of Higher Education for Excellence in Transfer by The Campaign for College Opportunity in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, College of the Canyons was ranked among the best U.S. colleges for adult learners by Washington Monthly magazine. Of the 10 California community colleges that made the list, COC ranks No. 1 in Los Angeles County, No. 2 in Southern California and No. 53 nationally.


California Institute of the Arts

California Institute of the Arts is internationally renowned as one of the leading and most innovative centers for undergraduate and graduate study in the performing and visual arts. CalArts boasts notable alumni such as director Tim Burton, former president of Universal Pictures Sean Daniel, and Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton.
